I could talk about my work but it's here, speaking for itself. If I've learned anything during my career it's that great design—and mine is pretty great—is only a fraction of what sets me apart. So what's different about me? I'm a crackerjack stylist and craft beautiful shots fast and with very little cash. I can—and do—write (see my blog). I'm the mother of 3 and I can multi-task, problem-solve anyone under the table with a smile. I will squeeze amazing creativity out the tiniest budget without being asked (hey, I'm from the midwest). I have a Blackberry full of great contacts—photographers, programmers, producers, social network pros—and can pull a team together for a job superfast. I don't have a big ego but I do have good taste.I have a collection of inspirational design scraps—a cigarette package from Rome, candy wrappers from Bejing—in my office waiting for the perfect project. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, what I do for a living.

When I was 12 I saw the Picasso show at the Guggenheim. A graphic designer and New Yorker was born; nothing in Ohio ever looked the same. I made it half-way to the Big Apple studying design at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh and then inched a bit closer landing my first job at the Washington Post. When Gloria Steinem called, I finally moved to New York City to be the art director of Ms. magazine. Since then, I've honed my design skills at Esquire, the New York Times, House & Garden, SELF, Babytalk and Parenting magazines. A couple years ago it dawned on me that the common thread from Picasso to my scrap boxes to Parenting magazine was my passion for imagery that goes beyond words. Visual ideas that stay with you. I knew I wanted to feel the excitement of creating new, iconic imagery more often. So I decided to strike out on my own as a consultant. Whether you need a website, a logo or a total brand overhaul, I'd like to hear about it. Email me. nancy@nbscreative.com.
